Puerto Rico viewed from a gringo’s perspective

Units of measurement in Puerto Rico is a mix of the English system (imperial) and the Metric system. It is really pretty confusing when you get here figuring out what system they are using for what.
Distances are measured in kilometers and speed is measured in miles per hour. Strangely people always seem to know the width and length of the island in miles.
The measurement of gas is in liters (approx. 4 liters = 1 gallon). Milk is measured in gallons. Off of the top of my head, I think that pretty much any other liquids are based on the English system probably because most everything is imported from the States. If you are looking to buy a piece of land, you are in luck because land is measured in acres! If you looking at renting or buying a place, your luck just ran out because it is not measured in square feet.
I always had a hard time trying to picture how big a place was to begin with… Now figuring out space with a conversion :(

We do measure houses or apartments in square feet!
Do we? … I am pretty sure we do!
hahaah… I have found a few where you do. It seems the older generations don’t. I have recently been looking at buying a house since the worlds markets are crashing…
