Puerto Rico viewed from a gringo’s perspective

I use Onelink Communications for my TV and internet needs. Today it seems their service has had some hiccups. At first I thought it was my wireless router. I have a crazy wireless setup with a wireless bridge that can some time cause some problems and I just have to reboot my network equipment which fixes everything. So I tried rebooting which didn’t work. Now I am looking at my cable modem cycle trying to find a connection. This has been an issue before, but hasn’t been an issue for a while. I guess it’s that time of year though.
All and all Onelink’s service is pretty good once you get past the awful customer service and get every thing setup like you like it. For the English speakers out there, they do have an English option when you call which is nice.
Sometime late last year they did send out a letter saying they were going to impose a 8 GB cap on the bandwidth. If it was surpassed, they would charge some ridiculous fee. I have yet to see this on my bill. I am pretty sure that I have gone past the limit. I am a pretty heavy downloader.

I think that 8GB crap was just to scare the costumers, my co-workers and I also have onelink and we are heavy torrent users and we have yet to see the cap fee.
You wouldn’t be saying they have an awful customer service if you had used PRT’s service before, at least Onelink wont keep you waiting for months to fix your line like PRT does.
I am not saying the service is great, but there are worst things out there.
I am saying they have bad customer experience because when I first got the service I got just the basic cable. They swore they gave me a converter box which they were charging me for every month. That took a while for them to figure out…
I had to setup wireless outside because my cable company doesn’t reach me. I am about 600-feet from their main cable.
I have the Cable modem and router in a shack about 350-feet from my mouse. I have a bridge with an antenna on my roof.
The things you have to do when you live in rural areas.
I can’t get help without lying to customer service half the time.
It goes something like this.
Rep: Are you look at the lights on the modem.
Me: Yes.
Rep: Which ones are lit?
Me: I guess at this point. (I am actually looking at the cable modems stats/diagnostics page and guess what the damn thing is doing. I have gotten good at it. LOL!)
Usually it’s a weak signal and I tell me that. They ignore me, of course, but you can tell that they are looking at basically the same thing.
