Teacher Strike in Puerto Rico

The economy continues to fail here in Puerto Rico. We are currently in a three year long recession with no end in sight. The latest to feel the pinch are the teachers.

All teachers are currently on strike in Puerto Rico to receive more pay and smaller classes. Teachers are currently paid with a starting salary of $1600. The strike is against Puerto Rico law. Since all teachers are on strike people doubt that the government will take a criminal action against the Puerto Rican teachers.

The teacher strike is actually causing hardships on others as well. At certain schools the picketing is causing slower traffic and causing unsuspecting commuters to be late for work. Parents of children who would normally be in school are now having to find other options to make sure their kids are supervised while the parents work. Unfortunately, the supervision is not free and is causing economic problems for the parents as well.
