Escambron Beach

This past weekend I spent a day at Playa Escambron which is a very nice beach very close to Old San Juan.  Escambron in my opinion is one of the best beaches in San Juan metro area.

It has a back drop of some nice big waves hitting natural rock that surrounds a section of the beach in a big semi circle.  Within the boundries of the natural rock is some fairly nice coral that can be seen through the usually crystal clear water.  The deapest part is about 20 feet (a guestimate).  I love to go here when just hanging out, because strangly I can always see different varieties of fish while snorkleing that I have never seenwhile diving.

This trip I didn’t stay in the water as it was pretty cool.  So I stayed on the beach drinking my beer.  It wasn’t to cold for all of the kids that were playing in the water though.

It was also nice to see a really large group of people cleaning up the beach.  There were even divers pulling out the trash.  If anyone knows where I can find a site that list days for diving cleanups, I would love to know.  I know Scuba Dogs is pretty active in the enviroment, but there site doesn’t look like it’s been updated since ‘05.
